Cecelia Chen is senior director, Investments, at the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. She is responsible for investments across the private markets portfolio, with a focus on private equity, growth equity, real estate, natural resources, energy transition, crypto, and investments in China.
Prior to joining the foundation, Chen was a senior investment officer at Seattle City Employees Retirement System, where she managed across private equity, venture, real estate, infrastructure, and private credit. Before switching into investing as a fiduciary, Chen worked as a quantitative trader at Transmarket Group, developing systematic trading strategies across global markets, and began her career in physical commodities trading at Louis Dreyfus Company, a large vertically integrated multinational. She has worked in seven countries across four continents.
Chen received her BA in economics from Yale University and is a CAIA charterholder. Chen helped launch the Carnegie Investment Scholars program, bridging cooperation between the Investments and Education departments.
