Astronaut

Born in Peru

Carlos Noriega served as an astronaut for NASA, involved in spaceflights to rendezvous and dock with the Russian Space Station and to assemble the International Space Station. After earning a master’s degrees in computer science and space systems operations from the Naval Postgraduate School, he served at the United States Space Command before joining NASA. There, he was awarded two Space Flight Medals and the Exceptional Service Medal. After retiring from the Astronaut Corps, he worked as director of safety, reliability and quality assurance for the Constellation Program at Johnson Space Center. Updated 2011
