Vivienne Tam

Fashion designer Vivienne Tam, born in Guangzhou, China in 1957, is renowned for her classic, yet offbeat, style. Inspired by her upbringing in the hybrid culture of Hong Kong, a former British colony, her work brings together elements of Eastern and Western style. She launched her company in 1982 and eventually saw growing popularity for designs that featured Eastern imagery, such as Mao and Buddha. Pieces of her collections have been archived by the Andy Warhol Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Updated 2014
