Chess grandmaster Gata Kamsky is currently ranked No. 2 in the U.S. and No. 17 internationally. Learning the game at seven years old, he won the Under-15 USSR Championship at age nine and, a few years later, became a back-to-back junior champion of the Soviet Union. After immigrating to the U.S. he won four U.S. Championships and helped the U.S. win its first gold medal in the World Team Chess Olympiad. Updated 2011
