In his commitment to treating treatable illnesses in the poor, Jim Yong Kim worked for groups/organizations such as the World Health Organization, pioneered groundbreakingly successful approaches to attacking disease by using cheaper high-quality drugs, incorporating social services, and training locals. From 2009 to 2012, he served as the president of Dartmouth College becoming the first Asian-American to lead an Ivy League school. President Obama tapped him to become the twelfth president of the World Bank in 2012. Updated 2012
