Project Title

As a one-time only grant for the digitization of the Sussex Harvard Information Bank archive

Date

Mar. 07, 2024

Duration

12 months

Description

The Sussex Harvard Information Bank (SHIB) is one of the largest open-source archives on chemical and biological weapons. Given the strategic implications of this topic and the prevalence of misinformation and disinformation, reliable sources of information are critical. However, the current paper-based nature of SHIB limits its sustainability and utility for a wider audience. A project at the University of Sussex will digitize key materials from SHIB co-director Julian Perry Robinson’s collection to make them publicly accessible and ensure their long-term preservation. This grant complements the digitization of a collection of key documents and recollections related to major developments regarding biological weapons nonproliferation, also funded by the Corporation.
