Description
As one-time funding for a project on operationalizing a just transition to renewable energy as part of grantmaking on exploring the connections between U.S. domestic and foreign policies Mitigating the current climate emergency needs a just and orderly global energy transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy. Efforts to support the change should apply both domestic policies toward renewable energy as well as multilateral policies aimed to end fossil fuel financing. A project of the University of Pittsburgh will work to enable U.S. energy transition efforts to move from the broad articulation of support for the Just Transition set of practices, which focus on reskilling workers and diversifying the economies of fossil fuel reliant communities.

Description
Despite rich scholarship being conducted on Russia and Eurasia, public discussion on the region is often limited to a narrow scope of issues and perspectives. Sean’s Russia Blog (SRB), a project housed at the University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES), seeks to connect that scholarship with broader audiences to offer a more comprehensive view of Eurasian history, politics, and culture, and underscore the interconnectedness of Eurasia and its individual states with the wider world. Over the course of the grant, SRB will continue its flagship weekly podcast with experts from diverse fields, host a speaker series, and produce two audio documentaries examining Russia’s historical engagement with the United States.
