Description
More than 888,000 adults in North Texas have some college credit but no credential, often due to financial, family, or employment circumstances rather than academic ability. Regional employers, meanwhile, cannot find enough credentialed workers to fill open roles, particularly in healthcare and technology. The University of North Texas (UNT), the largest university in Dallas–Fort Worth, launched the Texas Talent Accelerator (TTA) in September 2025 to close this gap, building a coalition of more than 100 employers, colleges, and economic development organizations to provide labor market data and coordinate re-enrollment efforts. TTA and its partners launched round 1 of the “Some College, No Credential Regional Re-Enrollment Pilot” in summer 2026, testing the outreach approach across three institutions. With Carnegie’s support, TTA will scale to six institutions, matching 2,000 returning students across rounds 1 and 2 to credential pathways aligned with regional workforce demand, rather than defaulting back into their original program.
