Description
The School of Leadership, Afghanistan (SOLA) is the only boarding school for Afghan girls in the world and provides both rigorous education and continuous residential safety for girls displaced by the Taliban’s prohibition on secondary education for women and girls. Operating from Rwanda since evacuating students and staff from Kabul in 2021, SOLA is not solely an educational institution, but part of a broader movement resisting the systematic exclusion of Afghan women and girls from public life. Carnegie support would help complete SOLA’s permanent campus in Rwanda, creating a long-term home for up to 300 Afghan girls annually while advancing the Corporation’s mission to promote and diffuse knowledge under extraordinary circumstances.
