Description
In light of recent civil society movements in Iraq, scholars and civil society actors have expressed frustration regarding the lack of academic and methodological resources fostering research and policy skills for Iraqis in social science fields. They emphasize the urgent need to foster, renew, and strengthen contemporary scholarship in social sciences and connect academia with the public on policy-relevant issues. With continued funding from the Corporation, a project team led by Rutgers sociologist Zahra Ali will be working with Iraqi partners to strengthen independent analysis and action addressing critical issues of governance, gender, environmental security, and violent conflict studies. Project activities will include training, networking, mentoring, and support to research and publication particularly by women.
