Description
The fall of the Assad regime has triggered a hopeful but precarious transition where coercive refugee returns threaten to destabilize Syria’s fragile governance and ignite renewed violence. Refugees International (RI) will implement a two-year initiative toestablishrights-based repatriation standards. The project bridges reactive aid and long-term stability by conducting field research to produce Housing-Land-Property guidance, security and reconciliation standards, and model policy toolsforSyrian and international stakeholders criticalforreturnee planninginpartnership with local actors. RI will mobilize this evidencethroughregional policy dialogues and civil society participation grants that empower local Syrian partners to co-design return protocols.
