Date

Duration
12 months
Description
Research shows that student attendance is a leading indicator of academic success, and family engagement is shown to decrease absenteeism. While the equation is practical, many school systems have not invested the appropriate resources into family engagement and attendance management. As a result, when COVID-19 hit, many schools and districts were unprepared to communicate with all familiesandlacked the robust attendance management systems necessary to diligently and accurately keep track of their students. In partnership with Harvard’s Proving Ground, a Corporation grantee, in fall 2020, Kinvolved launched a pilot to support ten rural school systems in their efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism through stronger family engagement and communications. With support from the Corporation, Kinvolved willbuild a more streamlined onboarding solution for rural districts that will allow them to integrate their student information system;onboard districtstaff onto their software; and tailor training and professional development to rural districts’ needs.
