The International Crisis Group (Crisis Group) is a premier organization dedicated to preventing, resolving, and mitigating deadly conflicts worldwide. Its Africa Program works to address the root causes of the political, social, security, and humanitarian crises perpetuating conflict on the continent through high-quality research, nuanced analysis, and practical policy recommendations with the aim of facilitating peaceful, durable solutions. Corporation funding to the Africa program will support detailed research and analysis informed by local expertise, policy engagement, and strategic communications.

Description

The International Crisis Group (ICG) was established in 1995. Its mission is to prevent, resolve, and mitigate deadly conflict around the world by informing and influencing the perceptions and actions of policymakers and conflict actors. Corporation support will further Group’s overall objective to produce analysis that contributesto understanding the shiftingglobal order and its implications for peace and security, with specific reflections into how the context for internationalpeacemaking, peacekeeping and peacebuilding is evolving; how post- World War II and post-Cold War norms and mechanisms for advancing international justice and humanrights are affected by the changing environment; and how mediators and other conflict prevention actors can best navigate changing these conditions. At the same time, this work will calibrate ICG’s contributions to the prevention and resolution of deadly conflict in a new era.

International Crisis Group (Crisis Group) has established itself as a go-to actor for open source analysis and policy recommendations on potential and current conflicts in Africa and beyond. Its Africa Program works to address the root causes of the political, social, security, and humanitarian crises perpetuating conflict on the continent, with the aim of facilitating peaceful, durable solutions. Building on the work it conducted with previous Corporation support, Crisis Group will continue its detailed research and analysis informed by local expertise, while increasing its policy focus and government engagement.

Likewise, Crisis Group’s work in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) responds to the need for a greater depth of understanding about the origins and root causes of local problems, as well as the wider geopolitical trends that create an enabling environment for transnational movements and increasing violence. With support, Crisis Group will continue its detailed research and analysis, while growing its policy focus and government engagement.
