Description

Founded in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) continues to host influential global thinkers at meetings, conferences, and lectures each year. Launched in 2012, the Carnegie Distinguished Lectures in Honor of David Hamburg (DAH) are designed to deepen policymakers’ understanding of the causes and consequences of violent conflict and advance national and international discourse on preventing conflict, on building political will for conflict prevention, and on strengthening public advocacy for prevention and peaceful response to situations of conflict. With corporation support, FPA will continue host a number of the DAH lectures continuing as a key resource for the FPA’s programs to encourage broad-based civic engagement in foreign policy decision making and, therefore, to strengthen the U.S. democracy.

Founded in 1918, The Foreign Policy Association (FPA), a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization, serves as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinion on U.S. foreign policy and global issues. Through its balanced and nonpartisan programs and publications, the FPA is committed to bringing along future generations of leaders in the public and private sectors, who are well-versed in world affairs. Launched by the FPA in 2005, the John C. Whitehead Fellows Program, a post-graduate program, gives young leaders from the United States and abroad access to all FPA Fellows programming. Support from the Corporation will enable the FPA to continue to provide some fifty young Fellows the opportunity to participate in discussion groups with their peers throughout the city.

Description

The Nobel Peace Prize Forum (the Forum) is one of three programs officially associated with the Norwegian Nobel Institute. Focused on initiating high-level dialogues to advance pressing international peace issues, the Forum will conduct two dialogue programs: one focused on advancing global nuclear security architecture and second on early warning systems and approaches for violent conflict. Each dialogue will engage stakeholders and initiate processes of sustained commitment. Additionally, the dialogues will produce a number of key agreement points for greater dissemination. The Nobel Peace Prize forum has unique convening power given its relationship to the Norwegian Nobel Institute. The Forum is partnering with the Foreign Policy Association to further enhance the projects convening and communications ability. The program of Track II dialogue complements the Corporation’s initiatives on Nuclear Security and Peacebuilding in Africa.

Founded in 1918, The Foreign Policy Association (FPA), a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, serves as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding, and informed opinions on U.S. foreign policy and global issues. FPA’s program, Great Decisions, is the largest grassroots discussion forum in the United States. Topics include Russian Foreign Policy, Privacy in the Digital Age, International Migration, Shifting Alliances in the Middle East, Cuba and the U.S. and U.S. Policy Toward Africa. With Corporation support, the FPA will be able to respond to an increased demand for copies of the Great Decisions briefing book, making available an additional 5,000 copies for dissemination to university libraries in the United States.
