Project Title

For a project on strengthening international engagement on shared global challenges

Date

Sep. 10, 2020

Duration

48 months

Description

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a global health crisis with the potential to disrupt geopolitics and the global economy for years to come. How governments, multilateral organizations, the private sector, and civil society respond to these challenges will impact the future of the international system. The Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC)—an organization dedicated to advancing economic development by strengthening financial sectors in developing countries—will provide a forum for experts from the United States, Russia, China, and Europe to share views and perspectives on how to frame and tackle problems in a post COVID-19 world that require multidisciplinary and international approaches. With continued support, FSVC will gather experts from the financial, economic, foreign policy, and journalism sectors for a meeting that will focus on practical approaches and result in a summary aimed at policy practitioners.

Date

Mar. 08, 2018

Duration

24 months

Description

Tensions in the international system, both between Russia and the West as well as among rising Eurasian powers, threatens the global peace and security environment. With Corporation support, the Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) has administered a multi-year Track II effort to provide a forum for leading scholars and practitioners from the United States, Russia, China, India, and Germany to exchange ideas and build networks. The symposia bring together experts from the four countries to deliberate on topics that are more often discussed bilaterally, and enable the participants to share insights and frame complex policy issues for possible consideration by their governments. The symposia result in published reports.

Date

Duration

24 months

Description

Recent breakdown of communication among key international players, most especially between Russia and the West, threatens the global peace and security environment. With Corporation support since 2003, the Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) has administered a multi-year Track II effort to provide a forum for leading scholars and practitioners from the United States, Russia, China, and India to exchange ideas and build networks. The dialogue is the only one that brings together experts from all four countries to deliberate on topics that are more often discussed bilaterally. Through symposia, participants share insights and frame complex policy issues in new ways and help policymakers address world security challenges. This renewal also would ensure that the FSVC network that has been built with Corporation support will continue to grow and bring in the next generation of thought leaders and policymakers.
