Established in the wake of the 2018 murders at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Eradicate Hate Global Summit is now a multi-faceted initiative dedicated to combating hate-fueled rhetoric and violence, uniting a diverse array of international experts and community leaders focused on promoting civil discourse and bridge-building. It has since evolved into a multi-faceted initiative focused on combating hate-fueled violence targeting faith and marginalized communities. Its programs engage over 1,500 international experts and leaders dedicated to eliminating violent extremism. In addition to the Global Summit and aligned Student Summit, core activities include year-round programming that engages young people as leaders in the prevention of hate-motivated violence in their communities and schools. With renewed Carnegie support, Eradicate Hate will continue to facilitate year-round collaboration across various fields and borders, utilizing its specialized working groups and annual convenings to implement practical, research-based solutions and achieve quantifiable progress towards its priorities.

In response to the October 2018 attack at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Tree of Life Synagogue, where an anti-Semitic attack led to the tragic shooting deaths of eleven people, the Eradicate Hate Global Summit was founded. Today, it is the most significant anti-hate rule of law initiative in the world, bringing together multi-disciplinary global experts and leaders who are committed to the eradication of all forms of hate speech and violent extremism. With Corporation support, the Eradicate Hate Global Summit will continue to bring experts together to work collaboratively across disciplines, institutions, and borders between each annual gathering, to deliver measurable change through its working groups and annual summit.
