Data Quality Campaign
Project Title
As a final general support grant
Date
Dec. 14, 2023
Duration
15 months
Description
Over the past decade, there has been significant progress in building and implementing robust education data systems at the district, state, and federal levels. However, the wealth of data that has been collected through these systems is not always accessible to parents, educators, and policymakers who need it to guide their decision-making. Data Quality Campaign (DQC) offers a deeply informed, nonpartisan approach to addressing this challenge, working to ensure that all stakeholders have the information they need to make decisions that support student success. Continued support from the Corporation will support DQC’s theory of action to make data work for students through two strands of work: 1) increase public understanding of the value of data in supporting the Pre-K–higher ed student journey 2) ensure that state leaders can use the policy levers available to them across Pre-K–higher ed to make data work for students and communities.

Project Title
For developing and promoting state policies that enable effective data use, and building public understanding and demand around the value of education data
Date
Sep. 07, 2017
Duration
24 months
Description
States have made great strides in adopting the data systems and infrastructure necessary to educational transformation, but the full potential to use data in service of the student experience has yet to be realized. Founded in 2005, Data Quality Campaign (DQC) is nonpartisan and the only national organization focused entirely on changing the role of data to improve education outcomes. With current Corporation support, DQC has created and disseminated tools and resources to increase public understanding of the value of education data, conducted original research to gauge and better meet stakeholder needs, and created resources and provided policy guidance to help build stakeholder capacity to employ data in service of personalized learning. Building on these successes, DQC will: 1) advance state policies that enable effective data use in support of new models of education delivery and 2) build public understanding and demand around the value of education data.

Project Title
For increasing public understanding of the value of education data and building capacity to ensure that the diversity of education stakeholders can employ data to improve the student experience.
Date
Sep. 08, 2016
Duration
12 months
Description
While strides have been made in data infrastructure, and data exists that can help improve educational outcomes and personalize learning for students, a lack of understanding among key education stakeholders and a negative public perception inhibit the effective use of education data in service of student achievement. Data Quality Campaign (DQC) presents a systemic solution to these challenges, working to remove political and cultural barriers from the top down, and building capacity to implement data-driven change from the bottom up. With Corporation support, and building on past successes, DQC will: 1) Build public understanding around the value of education data; 2) Work to increase the number of states that share postsecondary and workforce outcome data with K-12 systems; and 3) Position the use of data as a key human capital strategy to improve educator quality and effectiveness.
