Description

The Migration and Human Rights Program at Cornell Law School advocates for executive action to provide immigration relief to long-term undocumented residents. The program is home to an immigration law and advocacy law clinic that focus on innovative work on behalf of undocumented and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) communities through the Path2Papers Project, including streamlining access to employment-based visas for youth with DACA Status, and on advocacy for detained immigrants and asylum seekers. The program also houses the Farmworker Legal Assistance Clinic, the State Policy and Advocacy Clinic, and the Fellows Program, which brings prominent immigration scholars, policymakers, and other public figures across the ideological spectrum to teach, conduct research, and engage with the public. With Corporation support, Cornell University will continue to expand its projects and programs to identify, develop, and seize opportunities for innovative law and policy change at the local, state, and national level.

Description

Members of Congress and the staffers who support them play an important role in determining U.S. foreign and national security policy, including during crises. This necessitates familiarity with the range of foreign policy tools and options available to them. The nonpartisan Institute of Politics and Global Affairs at Cornell University works to raise understanding of international affairs. In partnership with the United States Institute of Peace, the Institute invites bipartisan groups of Representatives or Hill staffers to participate in “Peace Games” simulations. Participants are drawn from relevant committees and include established and newly-elected lawmakers. Through the workshops, the members andstaffers engage with regional and subject-matter experts to discuss and determine policy choices within the posed scenarios.
