Grants

Collective Change Lab

Project Title

As a final general support grant

Date

Mar. 06, 2025

Duration

12 months

Description

Over the last twenty years, advancing educational outcomes for all students has moved from being perceived as the responsibility of educators and administrators alone to a responsibility that is owned collectively by the community. While many approaches have sought to bring together diverse organizations and individuals to work together differently for educational change, these efforts have made only incremental improvements. Collective Change Lab (CCL) was founded based on the belief that no single individual, intervention, or organization can effect deep change to our educational system, and scale that change, when acting alone. This final grant will allow CCL to further its work to elevate concrete examples of community-led change through research, communities of practice, leadership development, and changing the narrative.

Description

Collective Change Lab (CCL)was founded based on the belief that no single individual, intervention, or organization can scale change alone; and that achieving population-level impact requires a focus on both the cultural dimensions (e.g. attention to power, relationships and mental models) of systems transformation as well as the structural (policy, practice, resource flow). From this foundation, CCL aims to catalyze, along with other contributors, a collective shift in how we address social challenges so that the approaches taken balance cultural change with structural change, to produce systemic change.Continued support will allow CCL to further its work to elevate concrete examples of transformational changeanddevelop the capacity of practitioners to operate in ways that produce more equitable outcomes for those they serve.

Description

In order to solve longstanding issues in the American education system, a systems change approach is needed that addresses both structural and cultural change. Reform strategies employed to date, even those with a systems orientation, have often focused only on structural change without going deeper, thus resulting in only incremental improvements at best.Collective Change Lab (CCL) is a new nonprofit that aims to amplify the voices and wisdom of people from around the world to promote radical transformation in education and other social and environmental problem-solving areas. Building on longstanding work in collective impact strategies, CCL will elevate concrete examples of what transformational change in the education system looks like through case study research, partnerships, and leadership development activities.
