The Andy Warhol Museum (The Warhol) is one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, which was founded in 1895 by Andrew Carnegie and includes the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Carnegie Science Center. The Warhol’s mission is to engage and inspire through the art, life, and legacy of Andy Warhol, one of the 20th century’s most influential artists. Among the world’s most comprehensive single-artist museums, The Warhol opened in 1994 in Pittsburgh, the artist’s hometown. In celebration of its 30thanniversary, with Corporation support, the Warhol will produce museum-based arts educations experiences for youth, adults, and specialty audiences through its Learning and Public Engagement Department, engaging participants in their workforce development program, programs that center on inclusion and accessibility, student and teacher programming in and out of schools, public programs for museum visitors and community members, and develop web-based curricula and online resources.

The Carnegie Institute, known today as the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, is comprised of four institutions: the Carnegie Science Center, and The Andy Warhol Museum, and the Carnegie Museums of Art and of Natural History. Founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1895, today, the Institute brings together expansive research, exhibitions, and educational offerings in the arts and sciences. Over the next three years, each of the Museums will offer a virtual and in-person educational programs, exhibitions, and special projects. This interdisciplinary effort will unite the Institute’s goal of exploring new ways to educate visitors on contemporary issues related to art, science, and the natural world.

Founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1895, the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh (CMP ) is a family of four distinctive museums: the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Carnegie Science Center, and the Andy Warhol Museum. In honor of their 125th anniversary, a Carnegie Corporation grant will support their continuing work in educational programming, exhibition content creation, and the planning of a number of special anniversary events in and around the greater Pittsburgh region including open house events, special exhibitions, and a new teen membership program.

The Andy Warhol Museum is one of the four museums comprised within the Carnegie Institute of Pittsburgh, founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1926. The museum is the steward of Andy Warhol’s life, art, and legacy and is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through its exhibitions, learning, and public engagement programs. The Corporation will honor the Museum on its 25th anniversary with a grant in support of the Warhol’s continuing work to educate and engage the public, through their youth programs that address contemporary issues in society,the LGBTQ + Prom initiative which offers a safe, gender-inclusive space, the Youth Arts Council, and on and off-site education programming in the greater Pittsburgh community.
