Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is one of New York City’s most trusted civic institutions, serving diverse communities across Brooklyn through 62 branches that function as accessible public spaces for education, connection, and opportunity. Carnegie’s current grant has supported two initiatives, English as a Second Language (ESL) programming and integrated workforce services, which have delivered strong results. This renewal builds on those outcomes while deepening their impact. With support from the Corporation, BPL will expand structured ESL instruction, strengthen workforce services, and introduce college and career readiness programming for teens. Through these efforts, BPL will serve approximately 200 adults through structured ESL courses, 400 through career coaching, 300 through entrepreneurship support, and 528 through navigation services, as well as 775 teens through college coaching and 700 through workshops.
