In 2009, the Newman Library of Baruch College obtained 710 boxes of archival materials from the Bureau of Municipal Research (BMR) and Institute of Public Administration (IPA), the organizations which created the science of municipal government and professional training for civic leaders in the early 20th century. The Corporation provided a second grant in 2015 for the digitization of over 30,000 pages of archival materials spanning the 1920s through the 1950s. With additional Corporation support, Baruch College plans to digitize the collection materials from 1906-1919, which includes rare reports on policing, education, welfare, health, housing and transportation in municipalities across the nation, showing the origins of Progressivism and the development of reform government in the United States.
