The Association of African Universities (AAU), a core organization for exchange of information and cooperation among institutions of higher education in Africa, will host its biennial Conference of Rectors, Vice Chancellors and Presidents of African Universities (COREVIP) under the patronage of the President of Ghana, July 5-8, 2021. During the virtual event, AAU’s 400 member universities will deliberate on this year’s theme, “The Future of Higher Education in Africa,” with a particular focus on how African universities are addressing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Corporation support will contribute to facilitation, media coverage, and dissemination. In addition, the grant will support AAU’s broadcasting initiative, AAU TV, which spotlights the African higher education sector through interviews and related programming.

During the event, AAU’s 360 member universities will deliberate on this year’s theme, “The Role of Higher Education Institutions in Promoting the Continental Education Strategy for Africa.” Corporation support will contribute to the participation of thirty-three African academics and educators in COREVIP. In addition, the grant will support AAU’s new broadcasting initiative, AAU TV, which spotlights African higher education sector through interviews and related programming.

Description
The Association of African Universities (AAU) will be celebrating its Jubilee (fiftieth) year at its next Conference of Rectors, Vice Chancellors and Presidents of African Universities (COREVIP) which is convened every two years and will take place June 5-8, 2017 in Accra, Ghana. This event is an opportunity for AAU’s 250 member universities to deliberate on the contributions of AAU to higher education and the continent’s development for the past fifty years as well as AAU’s future role in five key areas: promoting science, technology and innovation through higher education; curriculum reform as key to graduate employability and entrepreneurship; the role of higher education in managing the environment; higher education as a tool for promoting democratic governance; and mobilizing resources for higher education in Africa. The AAU is requesting $50,000 to cover the cost of conference travel and participation of sixteen scholar presenters and a keynote speaker.
