Description
Asian Americans are the fastest growing racial group in the United States and face myriad challenges in accessing essential government resources and political representation. Established in 1991, Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) is one of the leading civil and human rights advocates for the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Using policy advocacy, litigation, and public engagement strategies, AAJC raises awareness of systemic challenges faced by Asian Americans and advances federal and state policy recommendations that would directly improve their lives. Among the organization’s core issue interests are the decennial census, immigration reform, voting rights, and, increasingly, combating anti-Asian hate crimes. AAJC works in collaboration with more than 250 community-based organizations and affiliates across the country that serve AAPI communities and is often a leading partner in national coalitions around issues that advance justice. With Corporation support, AAJC will continue to advance the rights of Asian Americans by amplifying their voice in federal and state policy discourse.

Description
Although they account for less than six percent of the population, Asian Americans are the fastest growing racial group in the United States. Yet, this diverse community continues to experience myriad challenges to participating in the nation’s democratic institutions. Asian Americans have been targeted with racial intimidation at polling sites, deprived language access by government agencies, and isolated from policy conversations that affect their communities. Since 1991, Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) has been using policy advocacy, litigation, and public education to reduce barriers to the political process and promote policies that expand institutional access. As the 2020 Census approaches, AAJC is also committed to supporting a full and accurate count of the Asian American community, to ensure that they receive a fair share of critical government resources and political representation. With Corporation support, AAJC will work to advance the rights of Asian Americans by amplifying their voice around federal policy issues, promoting legal protections, and ensuring a fair and accurate count of the Asian American community.

Description
Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) was founded in 1991 as a prominent Asian American voice on civil rights issues, working to ensure that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) can fully participate in American democracy. AAJC spearheads a network of more than 160 organizations from across the country, providing training and technical assistance to local groups leading efforts to advance immigrant integration policies and ensure a fair and accurate decennial census, among others. Using its litigation expertise, AAJC also actively identifies and pursues impact litigation on issues that affect underserved AAPIs, especially those in emerging communities that lack the necessary institutions and infrastructure to meet their needs. With Corporation support, AAJC will work to advance civil and human rights for AAPIs by amplifying their voice around federal policy issues, promoting legal protections for AAPIs, and ensuring a decennial census that accurately portrays the national AAPI community.
