Matt Schiavenza is the senior content editor and writer in the Communications department.
Matt has worked as an editor, writer, journalist, and nonprofit communications professional. Most recently, he was senior director of content at HIAS, the world’s oldest refugee aid organization, where he oversaw editorial operations, including the organization’s website, and contributed to media relations. Prior to HIAS, Matt was assistant director of content at Asia Society, where he co-launched the Asia In-Depth podcast and edited Asia Society Magazine. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior associate editor for The Atlantic, establishing a channel dedicated to covering China and acting as a weekend editor for its website. He holds a master’s degree in international relations from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in international studies from the University of California San Diego.
