The Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration is a coalition of nearly 600 leaders from diverse colleges and universities serving over 5 million students in 42 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. It is the leading national organization working at the nexus of immigration and post-secondary schooling. The alliance provides legal guidance, policy analysis, and access to the Higher Ed Immigration Portal, now reaching nearly 40,000 monthly users across more than 40 partner organizations. Carnegie support will help the alliance continue to support higher education immigration pathways for international and U.S.-based students, which sustains the nation’s civic and economic vitality.

Description
International, refugee, and undocumented students in the United States face unique obstacles in pursuing higher education, launching careers, and building stable lives. The obstacles include an outdated federal immigration system and an uneven patchwork of state policies and institutional practices that systematically limit their ability to achieve education and career goals. Fiscally sponsored by the National Center for Civic Innovation, the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration is a national network of over 550 presidents and chancellors of public and private colleges and universities serving over 5 million students in forty-two states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. It is the only national nonprofit organization exclusively focused on the intersection of higher education and immigration. With Corporation support, the Presidents’ Alliance will continue to educate policymakers about the importance of advancing immigration reforms that will improve educational and economic outcomes for immigrant students and the country overall.
