Due to ESSA’s focus on family engagement, in 2018 the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) awarded five-year Statewide Family Engagement Center (SFEC) grants to thirteen states. The SFEC grants represent the USDOE’sfocus to increase family engagement and family literacy practices in the nation’s school systems to improve academic achievement, particularly those serving low-income students. With over three decades of experience and revered as a national leader in the family engagement movement, the National Center for Families Learning (NCFL), seeks Corporation support to co-lead a national network across the thirteen states that will serve as a hub of expertise, learning, and innovation for the creation of effective statewide systems of family engagement.
