Grantseekers
The information in this section describes the Carnegie Corporation of New York grant application processes.
Step #1
Read our program descriptions
The first step in the grant application process is learning if grant support from Carnegie Corporation of New York is available for your project. Carefully review the program descriptions on Carnegie Corporation's Web site.
Step #2
View recent grants
Use our searchable grants database, review recent grants made by the particular program from which you are seeking funding. By viewing a selection of past grants you will be able to determine the specific types of organizations and projects we have funded in each program.
Step #3
Review what we don't fund
We generally do not fund outside of our specific program areas. You should also visit the section on What We Don't Fund before initiating the grant application process.
Step #4
Submit a letter of inquiry
The next step is to submit a brief Letter of Inquiry via our online form. Visit our Letters of Inquiry page for guidelines on composing and submitting a letter of inquiry.
Step #5
Submit a Grant Proposal
If, after reviewing your Letter of Inquiry, Carnegie Corporation program staff determines that your project fits with a specific program's strategies and funding priorities, you will be invited to submit a formal grant proposal.
Once a formal proposal has been submitted, Carnegie Corporation will evaluate it and come to a decision about whether funding for the proposal will be offered.
