Stewart A. Weaver

Stewart A. Weaver is a professor of history and former department chair at the University of Rochester where he teaches courses in British and modern European history. Much of his recent scholarship has focused on the mountain areas of northern India. His 2008 book (with Maurice Isserman) Fallen Giants: A History of Himalayan Mountaineering from the Age of Empire to the Age of Extremes won the National Outdoor Book Award for History and Biography. Dr. Weaver is currently investigating adaption to climate change in the trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh, India, and writing an environmental history of that area.
