Carnegie Corporation of New York and TIME magazine co-host an annual summit on higher education. The latest gathering, in the fall of 2013, focused on the American university as a driver of research and education for the nation, as well as threats to the university's continued excellence, and ideas for innovation and reinvention to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. To expand on the summit's discussions, the Corporation presents a special edition of the Carnegie Reporter devoted to articles, speeches and essays by some of America's top educators addressing aspects of higher education.
