Victor Dzau is president of the Institute of Medicine, health arm of the National Academy of Sciences. Previously, he served as chancellor for health affairs at Duke University, as well as president and CEO of the Duke University Health System. His research laid the foundation for the development of cardiovascular drugs that are now used globally. His honors include the Gustav Nylin Medal, from the Swedish Royal College of Medicine, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. Updated 2008
