"I feel like I am living the American dream of being an entrepreneur. Seeing Care.com on the big board is overwhelming and I feel proud to be here," said Sheila Lirio Marcelo, the founder, chairwoman and CEO of Care.com. Marcelo started the company, an online destination for finding and managing family care, after she struggled to find services for her young children and ailing parents. The company, which went public in 2014, now serves close to 30 million people across 20 countries. Previously, Marcelo was an entrepreneur in residence at Matrix Partners and held executive positions at Upromise, a college savings program and at TheLadders.com, an online job search service. Marcelo, who earned her J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Harvard University, is a member of the Board of Trustees of Boston Children's Hospital, sits on the Library of Congress Trust Fund Board, and is a member of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership.
