Born in Moscow in 1935, Sergei Khrushchev is known for his research on the transformation of the former Soviet Union into a decentralized society with a market economy. Prior to his academic career in the U.S., he served at Moscow's Control Computer Institute and also participated in the Soviet missile and space program from, 1958 to 1968. He is currently a senior fellow at the Watson Institute for International Studies. Updated 2008
