Born in Melbourne, Australia in 1931 Rupert Murdoch began his career as a publisher at age 22, when he inherited two newspapers from his father. He rapidly purchased other papers in Australia, England, and the U.S., boosting their sales by revamping them to focus on sex, sports, and crime. He went on to found News Corporation as a holding company for all of his media properties which now include Fox News, worldwide. Updated 2010
