Ramani Ayer served as President, Chairman, and CEO of Hartford Financial Services, one of the largest and oldest investment and insurance companies in the United States. Ayer immigrated to the U.S. in 1969 to earn an MS and PhD in chemical engineering at Drexel University, and joined Hartford in 1973, where, as an innovative problem-solver, his work kept the company’s technology competitive amid an evolving industry. He is currently chairman of the board of the Hartford Healthcare Corporation and vice chairman of the Connecticut Council for Education Reform. Updated 2011
