Television journalist Morley Safer began his American career at CBS as a correspondent during the Vietnam War. After making a name for himself for his willingness to report on controversial aspects of the war, he joined the staff of 60 Minutes helping it become the only nonfiction program to be ranked consistently in Nielsen's top 10 rated shows. Among other honors he has won 12 Emmy Awards and three Peabody Awards. Updated 2009
