Film director M. Night Shyamalan was born in 1970 in Pondicherry, India. Known for his supernatural-themed films, he directed two smaller pictures before garnering critical and commercial success with "The Sixth Sense," a 1999 film that won six Academy Award nominations. He followed it with the successful films "Unbreakable" and "Signs." More recently, he directed 2010's "The Last Airbender." Updated 2010
