Born in Amsterdam in 1972, Louis van Amstel began dancing at 10 years old and by 16 had left high school to pursue his dreams. With his partner, Julie Fryer, he went on to win three world Latin Dance championship gold medals in 1994, 1995, and 1996. After moving to New York City, he joined the cast of Dancing with the Stars in 2005, appearing for nine seasons as a dancer and choreographer. He is also the creator of the LaBlast fitness program and is currently active in the "Making Your Move" campaign to raise awareness of osteoporosis. Updated 2014
