One of the Lost Boys of Sudan, track-and-field star Lopez Lomong was kidnapped at age six and sent to a prison camp to be trained as a child soldier. Escaping on foot, he spent 10 years at a Kenyan refugee camp before being adopted by an American family. As an Olympian he was the carrier of the American flag in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His autobiography, Running for My Life, was published in 2012. Through the Lopez Lomong Foundation, he works to help other victims of the Sudanese Civil War. Updated 2013
