Lawrence  Douglas

Lawrence R. Douglas is the James J. Grosfeld Professor and Chair of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought at Amherst College. His research explores the possibilities and limitations of war crimes trials as tools for responding to mass atrocities. His book, The Memory of Judgment, explored the didactic uses of such trials, and how they aimed to teach history and define collective memory.
