Joseph Aoun is the seventh president of Northeastern University, where he has bolstered its research enterprise and seen the growth of applications received to its highest levels. He was previously dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California. With a PhD in linguistics and philosophy, Aoun is internationally known as a linguistics scholar, publishing seven books and more than 40 articles. He received the Robert A. Muh Award from MITs School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, in 2011. Updated 2011
