Chef, entrepreneur, and television personality José Andrés grew up in Barcelona before immigrating to the U.S. and opening his first restaurant in 2003, minibar by José Andrés. With his company ThinkFoodGroup, Andrés has since opened several restaurants, and is credited with introducing tapas to the U.S. In 2008, he hosted the PBS cooking and travel series Made in Spain. He has taught, written three books, worked as an advocate for food and hunger issues, and was named “Outstanding Chef” by the James Beard Foundation in 2011. Updated 2011
