James Wolfensohn

James Wolfensohn, born in 1933 in Sydney, Australia, served as the ninth president of the World Bank from 1995 to 2005. During his tenure, Wolfensohn traveled to aid nations around the world leading initiatives on debt reduction, environmental sustainability, health care, and anti-corruption, and restructured the institution for effectiveness and efficiency. He is considered one of the World Bank's most influential leaders and has since served on the boards of many institutions. Currently he is chairman and CEO of Wolfensohn Fund Management a global emerging markets private equity firm. Updated 2007
