“I figured if you live in a country long enough, you want to be a part of the political process and you sort of owe it to your hosts. They’ve accepted you. Why wouldn’t you accept them?,” James P. Gorman told “The Financial Times” shortly after passing his U.S. citizenship test in 2004. Before joining Morgan Stanley, where he currently serves as chairman and CEO, Mr. Gorman held a succession of executive positions at Merrill Lynch and had served as a senior partner of McKinsey & Co. Gorman serves as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Council on Foreign Relations, and is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Columbia Business School, the Monetary Authority of Singapore International Advisory Panel, the Business Council and the Board of the Institute of International Finance. “What made America great [is] that everyone had the opportunity to be a winner. And I think it’s still there. I’m certainly a beneficiary of it.” Updated July 2018
