Henry Kissinger, born in 1928 in Furth, Germany, served as U.S. Secretary of State under President Nixon, from 1973 to 1977. For his role in ending the Vietnam War he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973. He was also given the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Later, Kissinger served on the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board for President's Reagan and Bush. He stands among the 20th century's most dominant foreign policy makers and statesmen. Updated 2007
