Opera singer Hao Jiang Tian made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1992 and has since become renowned as one of the world’s premier basso cantantes. He has appeared in more than 40 roles performing in the world’s great opera houses. In 2008, Tian published his memoir Along the Roaring River: My Wild Ride from Mao to the Met, which tells of his childhood in Communist China. He also created and performed a one-man show based on the book, a recording of which aired on PBS. Updated 2014
