Appointed by President Bush in 2005, Emilio T. Gonzalez served as director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, an under secretary position within the Department of Homeland Security. Prior to that, he served as director for Western hemisphere affairs within the White House's National Security Council. He also served in the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of colonel. Currently, he is director of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department. Updated 2008
