Born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1946, designer Diane von Furstenberg made her mark on the fashion world in the 1960s with the wrap dress, which went on to sell millions. Later, she re-launched her company as a global luxury lifestyle brand of ready-to-wear, accessories, eyewear, and home furnishings. As a philanthropist, von Furstenberg established the DVF Awards to honor and provide grants to leading women. In 2012, Forbes named her the most powerful woman in fashion. Updated 2012
