Cyrus Amir-Mokri

The Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions at the U.S. Treasury Department, Cyrus Amir-Mokri was born in Tehran, Iran in 1964 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1981. Earning his J.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago he served as partner at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, and Flom, where he was involved in much of the firm;s high-profile litigation. He has also participated substantially in community service and pro bono work, representing inmates on death row and working for issues involving the Iranian-American community. He was a senior legal and policy advisor to the Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, helping in the process that led to the passage and implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act.
