Chen Ning Yan

Renowned physicist Chen-Ning Yang has worked primarily in the fields of statistical mechanics and symmetry principles. His work on parity laws, which led to important discoveries regarding elementary particles, won him the 1957 Nobel Prize in Physics. In 1965, he became the Albert Einstein Professor of Physics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, working there until 1999, when he retired as professor emeritus. He has since worked in China to help strengthen its universities. Updated 2009
